she had a left radical mastoide ectomy
she has reduced hearing on her right ear
but if she gets a cold etc it gets worse
the infection she had was a CHOLESTEATOMA.
it took hold badly attached itself to the brains lining took part of her jaw and check bone also
so she has to have regular checks as the surgeons say it could come back
and thier is a possibilty of it effecting her right ear

The reason i took sign languge up was
When we were in hospital thier were loads of kids there that had lost all of thier hearing due to this
what happened to my daughter made me realise that if the infection came back i wanted to be able to talk to her through sign etc she is
learning it with me also and doing a much better job i might add

Yeah, kids always pick things up so much quicker than us.

I think its great that you are preparing yourself in case the worst should happen, but I sincerely hope that she won’t have to go through any more.
