Scotland
A constituent country of the United Kingdom comprising the northern part of the island of Great Britain as well as the Hebrides, Shetland Islands, and Orkney Islands. Inhabited by Picts in prehistoric times, the region was invaded but never conquered by the Romans and split into a variety of small kingdoms after the fifth century A.D. In the ninth century most of Scotland was unified into one kingdom, but conflicts with the English led to a series of bloody wars. (We don’t want to start them again!)
When Mary Queen of Scots’s son James VI succeeded to the English throne in 1603, the two kingdoms were united.
Scotland became a part of the kingdom of Great Britain by a parliamentary act of 1707 and part of the United Kingdom after the Act of Union in 1800.
Edinburgh is the capital and Glasgow the largest city. Population: approx. 5,000,000.
Thank you Obs  8) :D :D :D

You are British..but you live in a region within England, which is one of the countries whih make up the UK.
Like I said – i’m not trying to start the Scottish/English/British argument here – merely trying to find out who is from what area… :D
30 May, 2006 at 12:30 am #221568As far as I am concerned, and every other Scot will prob agree with me – Scotland is a country, and is split into regions within it.
I am not saying we are not a part of Great Britain, but we are a country. 8)

i’m with the lovely french lady above ^^^
where is the “other” option?
as my country isn’t listed either
my REGION is, but it says which COUNTRY are you from, not REGION you are from DOESN’T IT!!!!!!!
I didn’t ask ‘which nationality’
We are only voting on which part you stay in to see which area has the most representatives on here, not trying to have a political discussion on whether people are British or not
Unless you can suggest another way of splitting up the UK for a poll? Would you have preferred only 2 options..’British’ or ‘Other’???? :-k
Then make your own poll :P  [-(

Sorry Lamby – I did enter it as an option, but a few polls I have made seem to have lost the bottom voting section
If a guide could add it, I would be grateful :D
