I reckon we, as a generation of subjects, have failed to safeguard our liberties thus far. We make barely any fuss except when we are whipped up by the Daily Mail brigade and demand even more of our liberty is taken away. The government are acting perfectly normally. They wouldn’t be able to get away with it if the population weren’t such a cowed, lazy, materialistic mess. It is us, the people, who are amiss in our responsibilities. We’re more interested in Big Brother controversy these days, aren’t we?
You know, far from the days of old when we used to just talk shit to one another… basically what you are saying in your vernacular way is that us Brits, and more so English, are just far to passive, I believe. We allow ourselves to be pushed over, yet we vote in another government that does exactly the same as the previous one, without so much as a wimper.
The Welsh, N.Irish and Scots get devolution and a governing body that can also vote in Westminster for the English. The English have no vote on those countries and principalities. The English tend to say ‘oh well’ and get on with it, yet we seeth inside. There is no real uprising culture in the country of England, much to the opposite of centuries past. If there was I believe the map of the United Kingdom would change, as the English said ‘no more’ to funding other countries.
It is our faults, I don’t believe it has anything to do with getting off our fat, lazy derriere’s, but everything to do with our passiveness and willingness to do what is right by others… a contradiction in terms, I know.
