poor Theresa May hits the headlines more for her fashion….this morning she is in the paper showing her feature in American Vogue

I know the days of blue rinses and crimpolene dresses are long gone …..but surely we have to look at our ages a teeny weeny bit as to how we should dress?…..having said that I’m a bit of a hypocrite….I’m 53 this year And I still wear skinny jeans …bikinis…and dare I say the odd short dress!!

the papers love Theresa’s leather trousers…personally I think a 60yr Would be too old for them…..but to be fair she looks good in them……so should we go with the flow and wear what we can carry off for as long as we want to?

Aww Kenty don’t be ageist ….. some 60 yr olds can carry off wearing leather trousers.

I agree with you about tweaking outfits to getting older (nothing worse the mutton dressed as lamb)

Luckily I have always tended to go for the classic cut clothes & not followed the latest trends. Nicely cut trousers , the odd dress even but I do tend to live in jeans unless I am at work  because they are practical & comfortable.

    (we won’t mention the peach & white 3/4 length dungaree’s I sported in the early 80’s )

The Queen , Princess Kate & Mrs May herself always dress very well IMHO.

when I’m 60 and think I’m 40 I will probably think it’s ok to wear leather trousers ?

I think some of Kate’s ‘day time ‘ clobber is far too old for her age ! as are the ‘hair do’s’… you wear what suits you and by say 25 you should know what suits you ! and not follow fashion just because its there, some of the ‘latest fashions’ look god awful on anyone !!!

    Skinny Jeans Rule !!! B-)

my EX friend sally(66) once turned up to my ‘catch up’ tea party wearing godam “ugg” boots and some sort of fancy nancy hat. i bited my lip then, but then i met her one evening dressed like a street walker that was when i really got a shock. we went into some bar and she was dancing like some 16yo. like miley cyrus. this is the same friend who i caught attempting to drown (over water) my flowers and plants. (which the man said would destroy them).

she got jealous because mines were nicer than hers.

    good ridance.

As Herr Flick once said to his sidekick, von Smallhausen, about Madame Edith in ‘Allo, ‘Allo,

“Vy is ze mutton – drrressed as ze lamb”?

I have a friend, a former model,  who is terrified of being mutton dressed as lamb, but she looks good. Someone said that if she wore a binliner, it would look fashionable on her.

Wear what you feel comfortable in. I’m sure Ms K  can easily get away with her wear and look good in it.

It’s only when you dress up to please that things start to go awry.

I myself wear the same clothes I wore in the 1890s.

Older women should beware of joining the beige brigade – imho.

That’s when they dress to look anonymous, for fear that people will be looking at them and laughing at them.

Only the stupid people laugh at you for not being as old as they are.

Dress in what makes you feel comfy.

    Ge

I always thought Theresa May overdressed, that ‘power’ thing she did was a little bit to obvious for my taste, but saying that she is an attractive ‘older’ woman and of course entitled to wear what she likes and she has toned it down a tad, since becoming leader.

I gave up fashion in 1982, when I still had a 32” waist. These days just boot cut jeans, casual shirt, or a v neck jumper with a white t shirt and hiking boots/trainers which you can’t go wrong with cos they is ‘rugged’ innit. I don’t do ‘formal’ dress as a norm and only own one suit for weddings etc and that is 20 years old.

Moosey, for bringing the grammatical mix-up to my attention.

These mix-ups aren’t as common as typos, but the invention of the word-processor has led to me making them from time to time.

    Correction –

Only stupid people laugh at you for being older than they are.

Now that should make sense to you. :good:
