We are all told to be careful of online, we are told that we need ant virus and firewalls for computers and more. But how careful are we and is the home computer the causing fraud ?

Most people would never think twice about handing out over band details over the phone for a direct debit or a credit card payment. I wouldn’t notice any thing missing from my bank account until my statements turn up and then I would have to spot it.

Has wages in “call centres” or government departments fail to keep up with inflation, we can all expect more bank fraud. Its easy for anyone to pass on our personal details in these jobs. There are little or few precautions in place to protect us and the “fraud” would never be traced back.

Most welfare payments are paid thru a bank account now and all the personal information need to commit fraud is there and easy to access. Its normal for forms and other paper work to get lost or mislaid at these departments. So someone working there could “target” university graduates or others who will only be on the benefits system for a short while and use this information after there welfare has ended and there in work.

So we can have the most secure computers on the planet, but our bank accounts can still be raided and our id’s be stolen by some “min wage worker” passing on information for cash.

Its time we all need to ask a few more questions before we hand out personal details.

The main way they are getting money is by identity theft, then getting credit cards and running huge debts up in people’s names. Identity theft is the fastest growing crime in the world. You should be pretty safe though DOA, they’d have to be mad to want to be you.

    I’d say…..averagely secure.

so, will there be any further questions ?

With the way the economy and the financial markets are going, how safe is the money in our bank accounts even if it is secure against fraud?
