Ok so i’m having to get a new hall covering but undecided between vinyl and carpet….both have their good and bad points…..

Carpet is soundproof and warm but gathers dirt too much where as vinyl is easy to clean but at the same time……doesn’t mask sound much…

What are your opinions of vinyl and carpet in general?

Carpet. I get your point about dirt….get a dyson, problem solved. Always have carpet. much nicer.

Good point. Carpet is just my personal preference. Washing the floor is a pain. hoovering is easier,

Well having both carpet and vinyl in my living room in the past, I am at the same dilemma, same crossroads and like you I am also perplexed as to which to choose.

I am considering ripping up my carpet and laying down floor tiles and just buying a rug.

Even cheap floor tiles can look good.

I had both in my old house.

Its so easy to sweep and mop a wood or vinyl floor but if you have pets they tend to mess up carpets, hence why my carpet although only 2 years old has been damaged due to pets, especially two elderly dogs who are both deceased now, may they rip.

If you don’t have pets then a carpet is a good idea.  Personally even though I currently have no pets I think I will go back to either wood or vinyl flooring as I find it so much easier to maintain.

I am considering buying a cat so for me it makes sense.  My mums said she will catsit when I go away again.

Its a hard decision to make.

May the force be with you x

I am rooting for you :)

Do not fuk this up, could be the end of you.

    Just kidding :)

    Heed my warning.

I only have carpet on the stairs and landing….don’t think I would ever go back to it in any of the other rooms…even the bedrooms have wooden flooring.

Go for tiles, vinyl (does anyone have vinyl in the hallway) or a wooden flooring then buy a steam cleaner…..you can pick up a decent one for £60 ish if you don’t want an expensive one….no cleaning solutions to buy…just water….but add a few drops of zaflora into the tank and it smells lovely for days :good:

Have you seen those brand new half carpet half wood rugs that fit any room? Mister Q maybe that would solve all your problems They come in ONE SIZE to fit all.

Maybe a nice stroll along the seaside may make you decide to put sand in your hallway.

Or paddling along the edge of the waves may make you decide to put a paddling pool in your fabulous hallway.

Or if you had a walk around the park maybe artificial turf could be a good idea ( feels lovely on the feet )

Anyways good look on you hallway adventure of a lifetime!
