You don’t have to be a football fan to have an opinion on this…..
So, before the World Cup started Russian media and Russian football pundits said the current team was the worst that had ever represented their country. Now does this mean the Russian team felt no pressure to do well, and therefore have played relaxed, good football, doing extremely well Orrrrr……. was it a clever ploy by Russia to get teams off guard ? Personally I think sometimes its harder to play decent football against a shitty team, as mad as that sounds, its why you get so many giant killers in the FA cup …. Also has anyone found that the ref’s are not fulfilling their pre tournament press brief about not allowing man handling of players in the penalty area ?

yep that is truly mad as if that was the case, one of these shitty teams would have won the FA cup and there hasnt been a winner of it outside the top two divisions ever since it began in 1872 .
Anyway when do people think England will get knocked out , I say quarter finals

yea I know QE about FA cup winners but now and then top teams are beaten in 1 leg at least and I do think a nothing to lose attitude helps… Peoples expectations are so much lower now … 12 years ago England flags everywhere 8 yrs less 4 years less I’ve hardly seen any this year shame really but no one wants to look like an idiot lol
what about Russia ?
I think football is much more based on luck and random variants than people imagine, but ultimately the big clubs beat the ” small” clubs virtually every time assuming there is enough of a gap defining the size of club.
People also underestimate home advantage in football, many league tables will show the same team being unbeaten at home whilst away can barely get a win. Russia are a big nation in every way and whilst they dont have “great players” its no surprise to me they beat the hand choppers of Saudi arabia and Egypt ( half starved 3rd world muslim cult preachers fresh from Ramadan starvation). The real test is yet to come in the knockout rounds.
Incidentally expectations on England are low ( and have been for the last half century) because they have a league populated by higher ability foreign players whilst the English talent pales into insignificance in comparison. The ability of the premier league , doesnt reflect that of the national team.
If Russia were playing at a neutral venue , they would struggle to get out of the group but they are on home turf which makes a massive difference in football.
