12 January, 2006 at 6:43 pm #182028This is the one I always remember from School that was associated with the sea… Also heard at the end of “Perfect Storm” in the church…
Eternal Father, strong to save,
Whose arm hath bound the restless wave,
Who bidd’st the mighty ocean deep
Its own appointed limits keep;
Oh, hear us when we cry to Thee,
For those in peril on the sea!O Christ! Whose voice the waters heard
And hushed their raging at Thy word,
Who walked’st on the foaming deep,
And calm amidst its rage didst sleep;
Oh, hear us when we cry to Thee,
For those in peril on the sea!Most Holy Spirit! Who didst brood
Upon the chaos dark and rude,
And bid its angry tumult cease,
And give, for wild confusion, peace;
Oh, hear us when we cry to Thee,
For those in peril on the sea!O Trinity of love and power!
Our brethren shield in danger’s hour;
From rock and tempest, fire and foe,
Protect them wheresoe’er they go;
Thus evermore shall rise to Thee
Glad hymns of praise from land and sea13 January, 2006 at 7:27 pm #182029Oh Lord I know you don’t exist
I know you never did
But talking to myself like this
They taught me as a kidThey said I’d go to burning hell
If I didn’t mumble words
Like all the good folk in the church
Who slaughter pigs and birdsThey torture fish with nets and hooks
Until the seas run red
The land is drenched in cruel blood
So Christians can be fedSo Lord forgive me if I sin
By calling you a lie
I just can’t see how you could be
And let these creatures die17 January, 2006 at 9:16 am #182030Meat Is Murder
