Was the world a worse or nicer place than it is now?
I would argue that it was nicer, much nicer.
Shame on the two of you…

What other crazy things happened when these muppets were in charge. We invaded Iraq, they had no weapons of mass destruction (nothing), the twin towers were brought down by terrorist air-attacks when we all know they were controlled demolition jobs, and by the way, what does this all equal today = ISIS, this never existed before these two muppets ruined everything… They have serious blood on their hands… :rose:

Yes, they certainly do have serious blood on their hands.

But before them was Thatcher and Reagan, the creation of homless begging on a much larger scale, the gutting ot the trade union movement, the taking of a huge number of council housing into the private market and away from those who needed them, the training of al quaeda militants on how to fly planes into tall buildings in a murdeous campaign in Afghanistan financed by the CIA and us etc etc etc..

I could go on and I could go further back..

I’ve never been complacent about the state of well-being in either of these countries…

But there are many good things which have happened too, from medical advances to an increased respect for women and gays to the Internet etc etc

Always a mix of good and bad….always will be. Just important to make sure the bad doesn’t get horrific and impossible..eg a Hitler.

yep the world was so much nicer not like we need a national minimum wage
saddam hussain clearly deserved to carry on his brutal regime
we clearly don’t need the good friday agreement
and lets tear up all the good work tony blair did for the gay community
he was clearly an absolute monster

The world a “nicer” place? 1997-2001ish – I think its better now. Gay people can get married and AIDS is more treatable ( sorry Paige before you get your homophobic wand out). We have relatively less wars. Life expectancy is higher for the majority of the Western world.  Blair isn`t in any form of particular power apart from swerving war crimes and Bush is old news.  And tellys are cheaper

    BANG ON!

idk why there is still things like racists  and homophobics in the world etc, i mean it is like humans dont seem to evolve well certion ones dont, i think things are better in the world but also things are still worse or worser, unless u are a c.e.o of some oligarchy company or and gov, u wont win, unles u have riots or and wars, or just a big gang of people, to get something changed.

I wont lie, I am way too young to think about Thatcher etc, in that era though I did enjoy putting on the stringy material that was wrapped around oranges and pretending I was spiderman :)
