    Hi everyone,

I’ve done a clean install & added some memory (64 pin simm!) on a mates very old computer.

The problem is that the machine is not recognising the cd drive at all. (I did the install on his hd using my machine).

It was on it’s own ribbon, and i’ve tried it as master, slave & cable select.
I’ve also tried it on the ribbon with the hd.

I’ve set the bios back to factory settings, with the cd drive being enabled.

The cd drive is not listed in the device manager, and is not faulty.

It must be something so simple that I’ve overlooked.

Any ideas would be most welcome!!

    Thanks,

    Geoff

    Funny old things, computers!

I’ve just put the cd first in the boot order, and it’s allowing me to re install.

Strangley, if I boot it from the hd, it still doesn’t recognise it.

This has to be because I installed using a different pc.

    Thanks anyway everyone.
