Hi all, ive just had my comp upgraded with a new 80 gig drive a couple of days ago and my comp was working fine and dandy until the early hours of this morning, my comp has 2 user accounts and now i can only access the internet and use programs on one user account, the other takes an age to load up on logging onto that user account and wont even open the IE, im totaly at a loss to what is causing the problem im not to savy at this lark and any help would be gratefully appreciated.

    Anybody any ideas?

    Have u got XP?

I had same problem with one of my partitions but it was down to the virtual ram i got that sorted.

Could be corrupt files for that user, u got spybot etc on both partitions?

Hiya JMC, yep im using XP, and yeah i have a few anti spyware programs on each partition ive run adaware and my virus check and thats all clear, about 5 oclock this morning i was working in psp and everything started slowing down on that partition, then everything decided to either run way slow or not open alltogether :?

Doesnt sound like permissions at all, you defragged the hard drive?. Check the free space of that drive.

Do you know if the user has been given a specific partition on the hard drive?,

Well if you dont know too much info your better waiting for someone to look at it, because unless u can give specifics of partitions and stuff. It could be chasing shadows u know what hdd u got?. If so might be worth a look on their web page manufacturer should have some software to test that the hdd is ok.

When one of my hdd was on the way out it would do that, also had a problem once when everything slowed up when I had a period of installing and removing lots of software and not always getting rid of registry edits.

By all accounts if your profile becomes corrupt it can lead to you having slower responses and some arractic behaviour, and it suggests copyign the profile of a sound good user on to the baden.

Well Im afraid oh no it all its possible it could be down to something chan
ging in the hdd or the partition settings. We use multiple boots and what works extremely well on one machine will run as slow as a dog on the other. Likewise what works on one partition very well can run like a dog on the other. Its not always as clear cut as you seem to think.
