A madman who has threatened to explode several bombs in crowded areas has been apprehended. Unfortunately, he has already planted the bombs and they are scheduled to go off in a short time. It is possible that hundreds of people may die. The authorities cannot make him divulge the locations of the bombs by conventional methods. He refuses to say anything and requests a lawyer to protect his fifth amendment right against self-incrimination. In exasperation, some high official suggests torture. This would be illegal of course, but the official thinks neverthless it is the right thing to do in this desperate situation. Do you agree? If you do, would it be morally justifiable to torture the mad bombers wife if that is the only way to make him talk? Why?
Remember the little girl April Jones? She was last seen getting into a white van which turned out to be one her friends dads ..when there was a chance she was still alive I suggested here that they torture the man so he would tell the police where she was.
Of course it didn’t happen and the girl was never found… I stand by that suggestion though…..if its positive the person has information and lives are at risk …. I’m in favour of using any means to get the information out of them…I’m sure i wont be popular for saying that though.
I would draw the line at torturing innocents to get him to talk… by that I mean people he loved… I could not condone that. I suppose Im a bit of a hypocrite too as I could not be the person to do the torture…. but truly if innocent people could die….. I say use all means available to save them.
Ive been meaning to confess this for months but have never been brave enough to tell you all.It was all meant as a bit of fun to start with but quickly got out of control.I have been using multiple personalities on the boards and four of the main names you see here are the same person.
It all started out innocently but quickly spread and took my life over.I find myself arguing with myself with two of my personalities and now i dont know how to make them friends again.
I just want to move on and get back to work.
The dilemma….
