I have to congratulate Paraguay for managing to sign up the referee and Sven at half-time.
When Sven took Owen off (a tactical substitution), why oh why didn’t he bring Walcott on? That’s why he took Walcott out there isn’t it? :roll:
We looked like champions in the first half. Paraguay did up their game second half, but that doesn’t excuse another dismal Sven substitution.
Hargreaves was brought on to stiffle Paraquay and to play out time, because England were holding on for dear life at the end. A half decent team would have converted some of the chances Paraquay had.
I know it’s early days but England aint got the squad, especially up front, to chase a game when the later rounds come along. Im just being honest.We’ve got the squad, the coach isn’t using HIS squad! Paraguay looked second rate up untill the point Owen was taken off.
Changing the formation from 4-4-2 to 4-5-1 nearly cost us the win.
Paraquay looked second rate because Paraquay were second rate, but if they’d been a bit more adventurous they could have knicked an equaliser.

I disagree that Paraguay were second rate. England stopped them playing in the first half. The (dismal) change of formation allowed Paraguay to pressure England second half.
I’m looking forward to the Paraguay v Sweden game.
it was a terrible performance… and as for the subs.. hargreaves for cole? downing for owen? it was a joke
we played terrible, the pub i was in was shouting for rooney to come on, seems to me hes our only hope
