Well, I am not on any high moral ground, but I would never read PM’s. And, I was a message board monitor, still am I think, and I never even bothered to find out how! What people say to each other in private…. is just that.. private.

For the owner/moderator of a site to look at member’s private messages is just wrong. It shows lack of respect if nothing else, and if they wanted to show them to each other and have a laugh at others’ expense, then that is just down right nasty. And it doesn’t matter if most people knew they did it, that doesn’t make it right.

And… i may be on a high horse here, but I agree with what others have said on this matter. It is just about simple decency and respect. If the owners of a site, people like fast, can’t respect his regulars, then he should seriously think about the reasons he wants to run a site in the first place. And that respect also extends to letting people know that he is closing it down and keeping people informed instead of as lucky put it.. bolting.

I don’t give a flying donut what reasons he had for closing down the site like that, and I don’t know if he just closed it down so he could alter the look of it or the name, it doesn’t really matter. He did what he did and a few people seem upset at the manner in which he did it.

Mims! I take it you wont be posting on PATS CHAT when it opens again?

Well for the short time i helped out i was shown how to boot look up IP addys silance and remeove posts and threads thats all…………….So if a normal mod can look at pm’s maybe thats why i wasnt shown fast would no i wouldnt and never would agree with it

Nothing to do with moraul high grounds, But thinking more about the ppl who would be using the site the people who make the sites what they are

The same as when i gave up i posted my reasons why i was giving up Now to me as a site owner my reasons that i had told him in privet and confidence he then put on the boards………….Then he came on a post with the most patronising reply i have ever seen posted to a so called friend, After that i was done

as lucky as said he changed i dont no why i dont realy care tbh But has Mrs T said can it ever be the same there…. it aint been the same for me for a long time so i doupt it very much before some 1 brings it up

Mods can not read pms, only admin Sunny.

Sometimes, the option is there on the ACP to read pms, other times you have to be sneaky.

    I fall under sneaky!

I didn’t say that :) I shall carry on posting where I feel like it. I always knew I had to be careful what I put on Pats Cupboard as it would very likely be read by someone who didn’t exactly have my best interests at heart, so nothing has changed as far as I am concerned.

my original post thinking about it now was the trust factor, not the pm’s ive always been a bit wary of those anyways since early jc days……. but the fact the site could be ‘pulled’ just like that with no messages nor reasons, whe another site had probs , closed down, changed sites they always emailed their members at least.

foolish of me really , the pats site was kind of a ‘security blanket’ for me , sure u may think daft old cath but how many of you could think any differently if suddenly this site was pulled one day totally out of the blue.

So, for me, it will be dont get too comfortable or take anything for granted… :(

but then in the scheme of things im a very small cog….

a small clog perhaps Cath, but someone who contributed a lot to the site and should have been treated with more respect.

I understand totally cath…. I said it in a previous post. You might be a small cog…. but whatever you are feeling is what other people will be feeling too to different degrees…. maybe Mr Fastcars has some serious bridge-building to do :?
