Having no kids of my own I like to play the “good” uncle and spoil my sister’s kids and Godson like most.

There aged 9 and 14 so when they heard about the new game console was being launched a week ago, I had a few calls from them.

Has you may expect I gave in and found out here they would be sold and reserved three of them, (one for my nephew, one for my Godson and one for a prize at a party at the week end).

Then yesterday the calls started again, just to make sure that I got the right games pack and would be there at 1200am when the store opened, but too make sure they would come with me.

At 4pm I rang the store to make sure they where going to be open at midnight and they had it in stock, and lucky for me they did.

Has most, I was eating my dinner about 8pm and the phone rang again and this time I was “told” by a 9 year old we had to start to cueing about 10pm to get one.

So there I am in the centre of Brighton with 2 kids at 10pm in sub-zero weather waiting for the shop to open and we where not the first there.

Lucky for me that McDonalds was across the street and still open for coffee and food.

What surprise me was the number of middle age men in the cue, I just through they were just like me, been nagged into being there, but no.

Has the time past, I hoped I would see more kids in the cue, but no.

It’s seem to me after talking to them; that the new play station was just for single men in there 30’s-40’ with no life’s who still live at home.

They all seem to know more about it than the kids I was with and surprised me with what it could do.

Its wireless and can connect to the Internet, has good dvd play and has wirless controls. Its has more too but after 5 min of this techno stuff from all sides I just stop listening and nodded my head very few mins to keep them happy.

Then it got worst when the shop opened, it was like a nerds feeding frenzy, they where all trading in there old games and consoles for store credit so they could buy the £425/£485 game console, which seem to take for ever.

After a while I got served and spend about £1700 in there, all in cash which seem to shock the staff abit, we did get the ones with the games pack.

I don’t think there any point in buy a games console without a few games to play on it.

From what I could tell it’s ok to take two kids out at 10pm on a school night but not to carry cash.

By the way this was not my fault.

I was told to pay in cash by nephew, did not wish to take the chance of my credit card being refused, (he gets that from his mother).

After dropping them off at about 1230am and getting a few warning about “if they are not at school in the morning, I would be in trouble”.

Maybe a parent could explain that one too me.

But has I sit here, there must be middle age men all over the country being shouted at by there mothers for being up all night and still playing with there new toys.

Anyway better make a few call now and make sure them kids are up and getting ready for school or I will be in trouble again.
