France are absolutely terrible. You know what, I think I would rather England met them in the next round rather than Ecuador….
23 June, 2006 at 9:03 pm #227764Ya I really cant see France offering Spain too many problems.
23 June, 2006 at 9:12 pm #227765No I think we should beat Ecuador pretty comfortably however with England, you never know! I remember the 2002 world cup, I was in Australia at the time which was great as there were no issues with the time difference. I remember having ‘the feeling’ that this was our time (of course it later turned out it wasn’t).
This world cup I just don’t feel it YET. Perhaps a good performance against Ecuador and a convincing win in the Quarters will bring that feeling back!
I hope so :)
23 June, 2006 at 9:22 pm #227766That’s what I am hoping for. England do tend to play much better against tougher teams and when under pressure. Fingers crossed.
Either way, I will be in the boozer cheering them on!
23 June, 2006 at 9:30 pm #227767With the knockout stages comes the old penalty shoot-out scenario though. I suppose the law of averages says that England have to win a Penalty shoot-out soon. I think they did win a PS in 96, but I cant remember any others.
23 June, 2006 at 9:41 pm #227768as england have been practicing pens, i feel its my duty also to practice drinking at the boozer, so i’ll be doing that from 4pm tommorow
pens don’t worry me, if it happens it happens but i am confident if england play well we can beat any team over 90 mins
23 June, 2006 at 9:42 pm #227769I think it was a David Platt goal that took England through against Belguim in 1990. It think the goal was on last week. A peach it was.

Scots seem to revel in the England misery while English fans don’t really care what happens to Scotland… Got a fish with them chips on that shoulder of yours? [-X

Quite similar with Australia I think – many here are rooting for them in their world cup campagin. I doubt it is the case over there with Aussies cheering on England (apart from the backpackers and ex-pats!)
