9 October, 2008 at 10:32 am #379368It was my middle daughter’s 16th yesterday
she had 4 friends stay over tuesday night (teacher training day wednesday)
Its a family tradition I bake a cake
I told her I’d forgotten when she asked where it was
Never mind mum, she said
I’d baked her a 4 tier one covered in chocolate icing and a 16 spelt out in white chocolate drops and hidden it in a brand new laundry basket I’d bought for sons bedroom (if I ever manage to finish decorating it)
When all her friends had arrived I took it into her room
Her face was a picture
so were her friends
we all sang Happy Birthday at the top of our voicesAt that moment I reached a 9
After 11 years of bringing them up alone and constant worrying whether I was doing it right
I saw a well adjusted, beautiful young adult with a great future ahead of herNow I’ve just got to get Moondog to his 16th without any more police cautions :?
