    …I went around to a friends and she asked what I’d like to drink and I heard myself say “ooooh a cup of tea would be lovely”….

    (my excuse is I knew she couldn’t drink as she was on post-op medication and I was keeping her company :- )

    Then it would be today, when eve’s post made me realise my oldest kids are all older than was when I had them, a house, a mortage and a career, but none of them looks remotely like making me a grandfather . . . . .

    . . . . . and now I realise that as a teenager I wouldn’t be talking about not being ready to be a grandfather . . . . .
