OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) – A tapir pulled a zookeeper into its cage and bit her arm off as she tried to feed the animal Friday morning.
The woman, who also suffered facial injuries and a punctured lung, was in critical condition and undergoing surgery after the attack at the Oklahoma City Zoo.The arm was detached about the mid-bicep level, said Allen Poston, a University Hospital spokesman. The arm was too mangled and contaminated and could not be reattached, Poston said.

8 June, 2008 at 6:57 pm #343859Poli, my hubby loves Meerkat Manor, but I can’t handle it, every time I look at the screen, either one of ’em has snuffed it, or there’s a great big horrible s n a k e.
It’s on at the moment and I’m sitting with earplugs in, so I can’t hear anything sinister. :shock:8 June, 2008 at 6:58 pm #343860it can be sad esme but theres alot of good things on it too i gotta say i love the programme incase u couldnt tell

8 June, 2008 at 7:02 pm #343862In 1852, two Cape Town deaths were attributed to meerkat bites,
8 September 2007 Another 10 people presented to Gordonia hospital with animal bite exposure after a meerkat, which was kept as a pet in one of the households, bit 10 people in Wegdraai in the Siyanda district
