I liked O’Malley’s post, but as it is so long I won’t quote it here.

I would like to add my take on things:

    1. there are people who attention seek by attacking others in chat rooms not caring what they do or say, but do it because it gives them notoriety, as O’Malley said in his post.

    2. there are those that attention seek by being victims… although they may not necessarily really be victims, but just perceive themselves as such and love the attention they get from everyone saying ohhh poor you blah blah. These kinds of people often have bad things happening to them and are constantly looking for emotional support.

    3. There are also people who do neither of the above, but just come on line for a bit of a laugh, who are just themselves,

    4. and there are also people who hate that kind of people, because they are difficult to bully, are not attackers or victims and don’t fit into any specific category, and are therefore not controllable in any way.

    5. So in fact the fifth type are the controlling types, who want to know everything they can about as many people as possible and consider knowledge as power. If someone won’t play ball with them and “confide” in them, they get the hump. They try and control people by “knowing things” about them, and can turn on people in an instant.

Anybody I’ve missed? Am sure i’ve missed out some major groups of people, but we all know about the players and the fabricators so am not going to repeat what was such a good post by O’Malley.

bottom line is that there will always be bullies in chat rooms, and there will always be people who thrive on being bullied and the attention that gives to them. And no, I am not suggesting Sue is one of those kinds of people, she has clearly demonstrated that she belongs firmly in group 3.

Which means its all a load of whatever really minim, youve nailed the head so to speak. Its big fish in a very small pond.

    You missed out some types…….

6 People who want to get away from their nagging husbands or wives

7 People who want to escape reality but then get stuck in fantasy

8 People who use the name a certain sadness because they are lovely :D

    #496952
