OK, tomorrow is Shrove Tuesday, otherwise known as pancake day soooo……
1. are you having pancakes tomorrow?
2. if yes – home made, one of those shake-in-the-bottle mixes or ready made?

2. home-made of course! it’s not exactly difficult…..
3. we usually start off with a brown sugar and lime, then a maple syrup, and finish off with a grand marnier and brown sugar….would like to do a savoury one but somehow for me pancakes are always sweetand finally – I make the mix and other half cooks them, he says it’s a man-thing, a bit like doing the barbeque….and he does a funny kind of hybrid flip/toss (wonders if there’s some kind of psychological study on tossers vs flippers… :shock: )

Home made pancakes here…will do sweet ones with sugar/syrup/jam and may do some savoury ones with a bolognaise style filling…baked with cheese on top – yum!

Much to my intense annoyance, I didn’t get any pancakes yesterday. Instead I had inflicted on me one of the worst meals I’ve had this Century.
Boiling hot so-called Asparagus soup – a tasteless green slimy liquid that literally had no taste and clearly came from some godawfully cheap catering pack of instant ‘soup’.
The main course purported to be shepherd’s pie – or it could have been cottage pie – that again had been so zapped in the microwave that all the flavour was boiled out of it leaving only a horrid mess swimming in a bright orange grease.
When I enquired whether the meat was beef or lamb (‘cos i couldn’t tell) the manager asked me if i enjoyed it. Hmmmmm.
Even the cheese was still solid from the freezer.
Give me home cooking any day.
