An LBC presented mentioned “nappy valley” referring to Clapham where many young couples have now settled down.

Certain posh people of Streatham refer to it as St. Reathem

Another one is “Kangaroo Valley”, i.e. Earls court where many Aussie back-packers set-up shop.

I also know a multi-storey housing estate in Barnet called “Alcatraz” by the residents.

Can you help me map the whole of London (or other cities) in this way.

Fulham is known locally as “West Chelsea”.
    Clapham is often pronounced “Claaarm”.
South Acton is locally referred to as “Chiswick” probably because “Sar Facton” sounds a bit chavvy.
The Colherne pub – notorious for many many years as a gay pub – is known locally as “The Queen”.

Piccadilly .. is known as “Pickaninny” probably due to the presence of several ‘Hooray Henry’ clubs at the Ritz end.

I’ll post some more as I remember them.
