I think the boards need a revamp.
Its true forums generally on the Internet are less busy that they used to be, but that’s no reason to give up on them. The boards here need to evolve with their membership. They need simplifying with fewer categories and less segregation of the different chat rooms.
I’m sort of thinking out loud here but it would be a shame if these boards died a slow and painful demise.
Fewer categories and no segregation…. any thoughts?
I would say have one massive general off topic chat area. Do away with the Forum 1 2 and 3 forums on the boards. Poor General/off topic Chat looks as though tumbleweed has swept though.
I don’t understand why posters like Danny feel the need to start threads purely because they want to post swear/abusive words, knowing full well he has to space the letters out because of censorship…………the majority of us left that kind of behaviour at school or college the day we left.
Going back a few years I always liked the ‘off topic’ section ……..if you look at the stored pages there were some threads that were quite simply full of the wackiest humour I have ever had the pleasure of reading.
oh hell yeah .. off topic was a right laugh.everyone showed an interest and laughed. wish more folks would post.
I think you’re right Mrs T….a revamp is required. A new look may entice new members. As you look at the boards now they are quite daunting with all those topics, and segregation of rooms and chatters. Obviously I know anyone can post anywhere…
I used to post in most sections of the boards, then took a break (I know, I didn’t make an announcement..my bad!) then just couldn’t get into the other sections when I decided to start posting again..
I suppose most of you boardies also got a pm from Pete about a new site…I took one look and decided against it….there were just too many sectionsI wonder do the powers that be read here? If they do….

I agree, they need looking into. However I can imagine that many people think what’s the point of posting on the boards when it just elicits undue vitriolic criticism.
The prospect of boards v2 doesn’t excite me. The boards will always be the product of the users.
I have been more affected by past experience of persistent, unreasonable, vitriolic criticism than by the format of the boards. The most significant people appear to have backed off in one way or another.
Maybe a format change would improve things, but I doubt it.
