You seem to assume that no-one here has been in that situation.

I struggle to believe the people who are taking such a simplistic view to drug addiction have any real experience in the matter.

I do, a good friend of mine died from a drug over-dose, I don’t know if it was intended or not, so, I reiterate, I think it is sad either way, whatever, however, that she has died.

No actually, go back and read the posts for yourself – I think you’ll then work out to whom I am referring.

not sure i can work it out
why not have the balls to make it clear who you mean

wether she died a drug related death or not she still wasted her life

For the very same reason you never put names with any of your comments and barbs. No one has to, you made up the rules, every one else just plays by them.

Oh and if its a choice between her twenty seven years of nothing (the music that she left, the legacy that she left, maybe one fan, who has seen her demise, will make the choice to stay off drugs or change there own life) or your whole existence of baiting people on the boards, being rude, nasty and spineless. Then I know who has wasted more……….

Talented indeed yet clearly also tight, with her money if she splashed out on the good shìt she’d still be here, look at Keith Richards.

Ah but then you fall into the same trap.
In the same way that people are judging the value and contribution of Amy’s life by her use of drugs and the manner of her death at such a young age, you are judging the contribution of others purely by what is written on these boards.

We are so much more than people see of us, yet people judge on the person that they think they see…no-one ever sees the whole person though as we all go through life showing others only the fragments of ourselves that we want to share. Our contribution to this world is always difficult to measure however long or short our lives; every action has repercussions that even we ourselves do not see, the ripples go on and affect people that we haven’t even met.

Amy’s life was not wasted, she made a contribution and influenced many. It is not a waste that she died so young but a shame that we will never see how much she could have contributed if she had lived longer, but the same can be said for any death, at any age, from any walk of life…if they had lived longer how much more could they have achieved, how much more could they have contributed…but they didn’t so any supposition is meaningless.

    Ramble over…. :-

It is clearly a tragedy that someone so young should die for whatever reason.

    I see no debate here…

    The girl is dead.

Until any of us have walked a mile in someone elses shoes are we able to be so critcal of their lifestyle?

Similarly everyone is entitled to their thoughts. There is no one wrong or right on this thread – it is everyone’s own opinion and therefore we should all respect that and not attempt to argue each other down.
I can see both sides of the arguement, I can appreciate that she was responsible for her own demise but she was also someone’s daughter.

I wonder in years to come if Amy Winehouse will be remembered like…………

James Dean, Marilyn monroe, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Buddy Holly, hendrix
