I prefer books Linda i must agree but over the last few years i had over 2000 books and just didn’t have the room so i sold a lot of them and decided to get into audio so i joined an audio club. This was fine for a while but it just isn’t the same as having a book in your hands like you say.

Thing is about audio though, i could transfer them to mp3 and put on my portable devices to listen when out on bike, walking, doing work etc and of course they do take up less space.

Always amazes me in Charity shops..people buy hard backed copy of a book costing say any where up to 20.00, read it once then give it away.Which is fair enough in itself but i tend to buy books that i will refer to time and time again.

I suppose in my perfect world, i’d have a mansion that contains one of them classic libraries and i would fill it with thousands of my own books that would always be there if i wanted to call upon them.

    Ge

    I prefer books Linda

Like you I am an avid book collector, although nothing too high brow and I have also had to restock for various reasons over the years. Can’t beat the feel and smell of a book, the sensation is comforting and the more well thumbed the better. I buy all my best bargains from charity shops. Decent autobiography’s of interesting characters being my current favorite, for a few quid.

True have no mansion either, yep years collecting, me too down sized books. And then when some one told me about book worms, no way….so yes, got rid of much too. Donated hospitals, senior centers. I did clean area weekly. Flipped page, and cooler room of house….
Music, like it. Not as much as books far as collecting it

Ge..yep me too. Down sized. Now keep only absolute favorites which also include dvd movies.
Usually read book first, then get the movie collection attach to the small library have.
Like loved Game of Thrones, books, have all dvd series so far.. Hunger Games..so forth. Even Gone with the wind, 2 dvd’s.
Agree, my killer, cheap books garage/church sales, libraries too when cleaning out.
My absolute positive habit, oops..ebay….lot bulk sales. 45-60 books 12.00/ shipping..real cheap. And read every one. Hee hee

Love Game of Thrones! I have never read the books but would imagine like most books are far superior to the series visually. I bought the series 1-4 on DVD and started watching it. Watched all series 1-4 in 3 days (40 episodes) Gripping story and characters from start to finish. I felt series 5 and 6 was awesome but seemed to lack the sheer intensity of the previous 4……Rumor is there will be 8 series altogether. I get the impression from an article i read that they will tend to finish it off because of the money factor and actors and actresses demand more etc.

Also, if a series goes on to long, they get cheaper writers in and the dialogue and plot starts to deteriorate so it’s better to finish it all on a high note. Was talk of a prequel series but whether that takes off is yet to be seen.  Altogether though, a fantastic series. Seeing as you have read the books….have they stayed true to the plot or has it been altered a lot?

Worst thing i find is when you read a book and then they make a film and the plot meanders far away from what the book originally did.

Yes i used to buy massive bundles of books from e-bay. I did sell books at one point, i still do but i don’t buy loads in bulk as i just don’t have nowhere to really store it all. Manufacturers must have ware houses full of books that haven’t sold as you can literally buy a whole pallet of books for like any where between 50 – 100 pounds. Don’t find so many second hand book stores in towns like there used to be years ago. Used to love mooching around them on a Saturday morning…brushing the dust off some really old books with my hand to see the title properly. lol
