I know the one you mean, it was sung by a bloke? My gran had it on a casette with other songs… 18 yellow roses, old shep, and a few others. Im buggered if I know the artist though.
yeah had a billy fury version on you tube but that werent it. The fellas version was more poignant

There was another song on the tape that was sad too… it went “I broke an engagement, just like a divorce, my good heart was aching… cant remember the rest lol”… must have been the same guy, mixed tapes werent out then…
