Sure, why not? I’d rather they were blown up and shown live on Sky News but I’m happy to compromise.

This is an oblique allusion to the American satellite that has apparently ceased to function properly.
The Americans are planning to shoot it down with a missile rather than let it crash land ‘normally’ and risk either poisoning loads of people with the dangerous / poisonous fuel on board.
Of course more cynical souls may think that it is because they don’t want their hi-tech secrets to get into the wrong hands.
15 February, 2008 at 6:42 pm #312446i saw two shooting stars last night and wished on them
but they were only satellitesits wrong to wish on space hardware
i wish i wish i wish you cared………..yeah I think Billy Bragg would shoot the thing down too. Will my mobile still work after ? someone may ring me, or I may require some food delivered………..
15 February, 2008 at 7:33 pm #312447With their reputation for shooting down the wrong things, I fear we may end up with green cheese spread across the whole of the Atlantic.

some old ww2 veterans were recently asked – what did you do when the yanks were firing at you ?
we shot them back ! – was the answer
things made sense back then
15 February, 2008 at 8:14 pm #312449After hearing real soldiers accounts of losing people in their batallion to friendly fire its clear this is an event that is also blown way out of proportion by the tabliods hellbent on severing our ties with the yanks.
Friendly fire incidents are few and far between and are part of war.
I dont think its fair to compare this with such tragadies.
