We were forced to watch it when we were kids – don’t know why as my parents aren’t religious people and I haven’t grown up as a devout church goer. Perhaps there was nothing else on tele.

Slightly off topic but related……..we decided on fish n chips last night as I hadn’t been shopping and I couldn’t be arsed to turn the bread into fish. Anyhow, the church is just up from the fish shop and it was packed out, the street full of cars……I was stunned, didn’t think that many people went to church these days. Speaking of which, I’ve got to go for four weeks soon, all so I can get the little christened at that particular church. Ffs, hell and damnation, the shutter’ll come down on the church as I walk up the path

I know what’s round the corner – the church is round the corner. Nothing more awkward than when you’re going to do some shopping and you walk head first into a crowd of mourners leaving a funeral. And it’s a long stretch of pavement from the corner to safety. More often that not I find myself, unintentionally, walking alongside them on their way to the cemetery. My timing’s s**te!
