“ – And we say no, we refuse to continue to fund this occupation “

American protesters have rallied in Washington to demand an end to the United States’ unconditional support for Israel, Press TV reports.
The protesters, who consisted mainly of young students, gathered outside the State Department on Thursday to demand Washington’s support for a Palestinian bid to seek statehood at the United Nations.

“Not only do I support their rights, which are being trampled on and have been for over 60 years by Israel and the Zionist movement, I feel a special obligation as a citizen of the United States, as a person of Jewish background myself, as a person who believes in human rights for everybody, to speak out about this,” Jewish American protestor Benjamin Douglas told Press TV.

The protestors also called for an end to persisting policy of the US government in handing out American taxpayer dollars to the Israeli regime and demanded that huge financial and military aid be spent domestically on programs that benefit American citizens.

Palestinians say they will submit their bid for statehood to the UN on September 23, despite fierce opposition from Washington and Tel Aviv.

UN membership requires a recommendation from the Security Council and approval by two-thirds of the General Assembly, or 128 countries.

The future Palestinian state would include the West Bank and Gaza, with East al-Quds (Jerusalem) as its capital. The Palestinian Authority says it believes that more than 130 countries would recognize the state of Palestine based on the pre-1967 borders.

    Britain bows to Zionist lobbies

The British government seems to be risking its independence from Zionist lobbies after its recent moves to protect Israeli war crimes suspects from prosecution and boycott a UN anti-racism conference that could lead to the condemnation of the regime.
