As some people are aware, it is St Georges day tomorrow.
Hardly anything has been mentioned about it, and no pubs are putting on any promotions.
Why is St Paddys day celebrated more in England than St Georges day??? FFS!
Myself and some of my patriotic mates will be going on an all dayer in Manchester to celebrate the day.
The rest of you English people in here should do something similar. We should make the day something to be proud of, like the Irish do.
No doubt the politically correct folk will call the day racist!22 April, 2007 at 8:27 pm #268393Thats because half of them are too thick to realise that half of Ireland actually is english hermy :!: :!:  Sadly I have to work 9 til 6.15 pm so the only thing I’ll be doing is coming in and cooking the bloody tea :!: but I usually do celebrate St Georges day…have a few beers for me please :!: :!: :!:
22 April, 2007 at 10:23 pm #268394Theres nothing wrong at all with being patriotic but if somebody would like to explain to me who this St. George actually was and why we should worship him then I might consider it. As far as I can remember he was supposed to have slayed some dragon…. and we all know dragons never existed. So what else did he do to earn our praises :?:

23 April, 2007 at 9:26 pm #268400Simple really
St Paddy’s day is celebrated throughout the world cos only 5% of the Irish actually live in Ireland- the rest live all over the globe.
Secondly St Paddy was never highjacked by any nationalist racist organisation like St George n his flag were.
Thirdly, St Paddy actually is, in history, relative to Ireland. St George was a palestinian Roman soldier ffs!
Finally and finally, the “English” identity is intwined with the UK identity as the predominant partner (which is why we sing God save the Queen at English football matches!) whereas the 3 (4 with the Republic) main components of the Uk, Wales, Scotland and NI have had to fight to retain and promote their own individual identity.
and finally, finally and finally- the Irish like to drink but then don’t proceed to destroy anything or everything which looks, talks or appears to be foreign- they jus get pished and are happy
