I think the filters are fine as they are, it’s not very nice for any new people signing up to see words that may offend them. I do see the hypocrisy, though, that the boards are supposed to remain somewhat ‘friendly’ (as friendly as it can get with you lot anyway  ) and ‘clean’ – yet the chat rooms, which used to adhere to the same code of conduct, now allow pervy names, even pervier PMs any new female user will login to find harassing to her and full on public “cyber sex” and abuse galore. I know the admins have a lot on these days and don’t really have the time to look after the site like they used to but it would be nice to see some consistency. Either bring chat in-line with the boards, or, as the topic poster suggested, bring the boards in-line with chat by removing the filter and any decorum.

I know Tom. I look at the room lists sometimes and the user names make your eyes water. Never used to be like that in our day eh?

I agree Tom, and the messages in PM are not nice… I wonder if people would use a couples only room or something like that. I haven’t thought it through but I mean an area especially for like minded people. Maybe no-one would use it… just a thought :?

I wish there was a way to filter pm’s so that you could have them on but only to chat to who you wanted. In the old msn chat rooms you could do that til Bill Gates stole our chat that is!

Its awful when a site closes Melody, I used to play backgammon at a site called Playsite there was a lovely community there and the backgammon animation was the best I have ever seen.

Suddenly one day it closed, there was no warning… it was there one day gone the next. I often wonder what happened to all the people… they were only online friends but when it closed I felt a real sense of loss.

There are ways to get round the filter if you so wish. I do it often, with semi rude words but not really really rude words as I wouldn’t type those anyway :-

I use boards elsewhere and I don’t think they have a filter but the owner is ontop of all the posts and they are well policed if you like but in a good way. We do swear on there it’s allowed. They are very friendly and relaxed.

Language filters are unnecessary considering it’s an over 18’s site.
