Today should be fun
The flags should be flying
So why is it
I feel like crying? The beers would be chilled
The kids would be thrilled
The shirts would be on
We’d be singing the songsTalking to strangers
Like you’ve known em for ages
It brings us together
For ever and everThe penalty shoot outs
The heart in your mouth
It even paves over
The north and the southThe feeling of pride
All over the nation
The beautiful game
Our own creationBut it wasnt to be
a fortnight of glee
so we carry on
like a boring songIm a lonely acorn
In a huge wood
But I love my religion
More than I love food./suicidal football lover :?

Hey, smile its only a few weeks and the new season starts, in the meantime you can sit in the sun whilst sipping pims and eating strawberries. Or … you could watch the cricket, or erm wimbledon.
Or just kick Dave a few times, you’ll soon feel better.
8 June, 2008 at 4:07 pm #343317hmmm yep looking forward to the tennis, we normally always console ourselves with that when we get knocked out anyway.
Feel much brighter today, my youngest was awarded Player’s Player Of The Year last night at his teams end of season tournament, and I dont think Ive ever seen him smile so much. I had to choke back a few tears of pride! It was made all the better by all the parents of the other boys saying he really deserved it, so yes my pride has been restored. 8)
…. and I now have to buy a trophy cabinet as he has too many for his dressing table!
