Tory Cllr arrested over allegations of possessing child porn

He has been suspended by a stunned Conservative party.

Party leader John Dean told the WHT “It’s my understanding he is now on police bail and under police investigation.

“His fellow councillors are stunned by this news but will not commenting while the police investigations are on going.

“In the meantime councillor O’Brien has been suspended from the Conservative group on the council.

Chief executive Michel Saminaden said: “This inquiry was instigated following the discovery of sensitive material on a council laptop in use by the councillor.

Police confirmed that a Hatfield man in his 40s had been arrested and released on bail pending further enquiries.

A spokesman said: “The man had been questioned on suspicion of possessing indecent images of children.
