An interesting question – what is humour?

Posters like Camel Blue put up parodies using chatters as characters, highlighting what they see as characteristics of those chatters. Some of the named chatters think it hilarious and ask for more despite being painted in a less than flattering light; other are hurt and bewildered on what they see as a personal attack. However anyone who doesn’t find it funny is accused of not having a sense of humour.

Eve posts about music matched to chatters, a light hearted thread with no apparent ill intent; most people take it in the spirit it seemed to be intended, others take umbrage and/or use it as a means to have a go at others.

Someone in the chat room has a banter with someone else, light hearted, then someone else takes umbrage and all hell breaks lose with many chatters bewildered by how quickly things can change. Or a chatter A will lay into chatter B, or make racist or personal comments, and when protests are made chatter A asks where’s your sense of humour?

    So…what is humour to you?

Please don’t use this thread to air grieviances or have a go at others; as someone who sometimes gets told in chat that I take things too seriously and to lighten up (quite the opposite of what I get told in real life!), I am genuinely interested in how others perceive humour.

humour to me is generally some thing cheeky and light hearted
close to the edge often when it comes from me
    but no real malice intended
i dont have a problem laughing at my self
but i guess my tongue is just too sharp for some

some of us just take life to serious at times
i really dont see why any one would be offended on eves thread
just take it on the chin and come back with some thing your self :P

I think humour is………..perceiving things so they can have a side that is fun and responding in the same way……..life is just so much nicer when you smile, have fun and laugh.

    eve

I think that humour is a very personal thing. My own preference for comedy for example is dry humour with a bite ie MASH. For me, watching Fawlty towers or rising damp verged between boring and embarrassing!

I know that my own humour is often of the sarcastic nature and i do try to tone it down when i remember ( honestly, i do !).

It does annoy me , though, when someone says ” you havent got a sense of humour” when they mean ” your humour is different from mine”.

My own thread was meant lightheartedly and, having re read it, i dont see that it was offensive. Even cosy, ( who , as may be noted by a few, is not exactly a friend of mine) took it in that spirit and came back with a reply.

You got it wrong eve , i was not offended, just surprised that’s all .. after all the shyte i have had on here with it all .. and considering the fact you and i don’t get on , why put me there at all .

I see nothing for anc , or cath …..

I do have a soh …. i guess just very different from yours , and it would seem, most on here …. but then maybe it is because when i type something silly in about oiling my garden bench , and what a pain it was ….. and it then gets turned into something vulgar ( as usual ) maybe that is why i am maybe a little sensitive with it all now … Hence why i stopped posting ….. Lot of good it done me though eh? lol

Oops.. you did put one in for anc , sorry ….. anyway , i have a good song –

Not sure who’s name i would put that next to though …….

Camel_Blue should never be confused with the other story tellers here.

Camel_Blue only mentions the people they like but don’t take that as an insult if you have not been mentioned yet. There are so many wonderful charachters within JC all of which I can imagine playing a part in the stories, just haven’t got round to fitting you all in.

The room is quite often hit by people who come in and attack just for the sake of attacking, I don’t find it funny or clever.

Life is not easy for most of us, there is a wonderful saying “be kind everyone has their own battle to fight” and sometimes we forget that, along with the fact that all of us have good days and bad days.

Camel Blue is not meant to be a nasty poster just a tongue in cheek look at JC from a made up plot.
