A girl of 12 who encouraged an older boy to rape an 11-year old girl has been detained for two years and four months.
The boy was 14 at the time but was influenced by the “younger stronger character”, a court heard.
The girl punched the victim when she resisted the attack during a game of dares. She was also heard laughing as it happened to her “friend”.
The older pair admitted rape. The girl, now 13, and the boy, now 15 both from West Yorkshire – were both handed 28 months at a young offender instituion by Leeds Crown Court.

So what makes someone so young commit such a crime?….Surely to know such a way of hurting someone at that age they maybe have witnessed somthing similar?

    What are your thoughts?

If you google ‘what constitutes rape’ and ‘at what age…..’ followed by ‘when consent isn’t consent at the age of…….’ you soon realise that this is a very complicated subject :-s

This is an awful case isn’t it…. not just because of the rape of an 11 year old girl… but also because another female (her friend) assisted.

These kids in my opinion are old enough to understand right and wrong…. the problem is how to deal with them I’m not sure young offender institutions are the answer. Did they understand the consequences of their actions when the crime was committed? I doubt it…but justice has to be done … the victim has to see some punishment…. but truly I’m not sure what that is.

America has seen some success with counselling and community service… maybe that’s an option?

Why did they do it? Well just look around you…TV, films, magazines, music videos the Internet…. loads of sexually explicit media… in some cases actually targeted at this age group. You cannot force feed this sort of information and not expct if mimicked on the streets….. well that’s my opinion anyway.

I was a jury member on a rape case and believe me it is complicated.
