Firstly, what is private / personal information is very subjective. For some people an ASL is far too personal, whereas for others it would be their opening chat line. Some people are only to happy to discuss their personal information, others are not so. Each chat dynamic between 2 people has its own unique dynamic.

On the whole, I like to give people credit and say that they don’t, they are aware of the dangers of doing so. People are free to divulge as much or as little as they choose to, and I’d like to think most people have enough common sense to know when and where to draw the line.
