Er…. Speeding motorists and council tax dodgers ARE real criminals. Moving traffic offences are criminal offences, and so is failure to pay tax.

What I observed among christian evangelists in the past and I’m sureIt’s the same with these radical muslim preachers, is that there is a certain sence of power derived from being in a position to MAKE people believe something, even if, in your heart of hearts, you don’t believe it yourself.
A lot of christian evengelists seemed to work in sales and marketing in their day-jobs. What better way to sharpen your skills to advance your career than to make people believe complete nonsense in your spare time?
I don’t think it’s at all immoral to be gay or to indulge in gay sex. Not being gay myself, I find the idea of sex with another man as unappealing as I find eating cabbage. But, like the cabbage-eating analogy, it is not wrong or immoral, just something I wouldn’t want to do.
So it’s not without good reason that mechanics sometimes refer to a hammer as an ‘American screwdriver’!
It sounds like they don’t need to develop a muslim car as such, but just an islamic version of each of their models. This sounds like a clever marketing move because then they can develop christian versions too, with a St. Christopher to pray to before you drive like hell!

Mine has to be the wheel hub. Without a hub of some sort to locate a wheel and its bearing onto an axle or stub-axle, wheels would be totally useless!

As for the acts, the best bit is in the early stages when they show really bad acts.
As for the real talent, being a ‘straight’ male, I think some of the girls are OK if they are pretty AND they can sing AND they have stage presence. As for the guys, they are just boring!Call me shallow if you like, but X factor is about as shallow as TV can get!
Among my ancestors are Irish protestants and catholics. My great grandmother came from Enniskillen. We recently had a holiday in Galway and I had hoped to visit Enniskillen but time and distance meant I didn’t get there this time.
I think that all the people of these islands (British Isles or whatever the alternative term used by Irish people might be) should concentrate on our common heritage and even if we have gone our separate ways since 1922 and have completely different governments, we should still regard all of these islands as our common spritual homeland. That enriches the lives of all of us without compromising our national identities.
It is probably more difficult for those who have been directly involved in atrocities and hatred to feel this but we should all try and engender these feelings for the future generations.
In the TV coverage of this looming tragedy that is building in Pakistan, the world’s most powerful muslim country, one thing I noticed is how most women appear to be either in Western clothes or Indian type saris. Lots are not wearing headscarves and those who do go for the sort worn by our grandmothers to protect their hair-dos rather than islamic hijab. Also most men are not dressed in radical white with long beards.
I was put in mind of a tragic accident a year or so ago when a National Express coach overturned on a slip road and several passengers were killed. Witnesses had said that the coach was being driven dangerously prior to the accident and the driver was subsequently convicted of causing death by dangerous driving.
Were there calls for the resignation of the chairman and chief executive of National Express and those of the relevant sub-contractor?
If you are head of a large organisation, sooner or later something bad will happen on your ‘watch’. The bigger the organisation, the more likely this is to happen.
