I just find what happened to to these girls was so sad. Whatever their chosen lifestyles or whatever risks they took, they are the victims of pure evil.

As I understand it, the veil idea comes from the fact that Mohammed’s wife insisted on speaking from behind a curtain in her tent whan some men came to visit.

Also the headscarf tradition was possibly originally a Christian one, from Syria. One only needs to look at all the Christian imagary including the Virgin Mary to see what I mean.

Personally, I think all churches should be turned into community halls, nightclubs etc., synagogues into reading rooms and mosques into restaurants! (LOL)

I used Friends Reuinited a bit a few years ago – found a few old schoolfriends on there and exchanged a few e-mails.

I also found the first girl I went out with and really just sent her and ‘update’ of the 25 odd years that had passed. I got a nice reply but never intended or expected more as I was happily married and so was she.

This was a few years ago when I was in my mid 40’s. there seemed a curiousity and need, facilitated by Friends Reunited, to get in touch with the past, which was temporarily brought that much closer.

But now, as I’m in my early 50’s, I feel different, I feel that past is behind me and I have much less interest in knownig about people from it. It’s as though I’ve become re-focused on the future, as there is probably more sand in the bottom of the hour glass than the top now!!!

There is all this talk about CO2 emissions caused by burning fossil fuels (and renewable biofuels for that matter except teh replacement crops absorb a similar amount of CO2 while growing).

But what is never mentioned is that burning carbon-based fossil fuels absorbs oxygen from the atmoshere too – so are we not slowly depleting our oxygen?

If the emount of CO2 being pumped out is enough to cause concern, then surely, since each carbon atom released to make CO2 takes two oxygen atoms, people should be talking about oxygen depletion too.

Isn’t it about time heathens, atheists or whatever started ‘kicking off’ against the world’s oldest mental illness – religion!

I haven’t had a break-up since I was a teenager, touch wood! But I’d guess guy deal with in the same way as girls. It is probably less acceptable for us to be bursting into tears all the time but a lot of women take the stiff upper lip approach too.

Sad man? That’s what i wondered myself as I became immersed in the game. But what the heck! – no sadder than men or women who go to stand in a crowd to shout and watch other men kicking a ball about! No sadder than people whoi play shooting on-line games. No sadder than the man who spends years restoring a Morris Minor or the woman who redecorates her living room every year!!! The list of saddos is endless.

In fact it’s quite sad being a JCer as well – I say that as a seasoned contributor!

The big irony of the ‘racist’ Lotus revver is this: –

Lotus is owned by the Proton car company of Malaysia. Malaysia is a predominantly muslim country.

having had a proton myself i was under the impression it was made by mitsubishi ?? or atleast thats what the log book said

Mitsubishi used to own a stake in Proton but not now – from what I could find on the net it is state owned by the Malaysian government.
