With all due respect..I hardly think Steve Irwin’s family are rushing to read the JC boards at this time. I think you’re being hard on Peeved who is entitled to an opinion whether it agrees with your own sentiments or no. Interestingly..Chris Packham [wildlife expert] makes much the same point as Peeved vis-s-vis the foolhardiness of handling dangerous animals in the way that was the signature of Steve Irwin, whilst admiring the man for his conservation work. I can also understand why Peeved should find the outpouring of ‘grief’ questionable for someone we have only seen on television…yes it’s sad..but it’s hardly a death in the immediate family. I was one of the first to contribute to the Steve Irwin thread when I heard of his death yesterday. I find ANY life cut short..a tragedy..but I am not about to pretend that it is the end of the world. If we all looked to our friends..our neighbours..the lonely wee lady up the street..rather than strangers on a
television screen..the less the world would revolve on ‘celebrity’ and the healthier we would be for it :!:Yes he dealt with dangerous animals but he WAS NOT killed by 1, experts say that the stingray which killed him are known for being placid. Yes he knew what he was doing was dangerous but a lot of jobs are this was his livelyhood and his passion who are we to judge. He his family etc arent asking for to feel sorry for the way he died because it was bound to happen so again who are WE to judge. And yes peeved might have some points but THIS thread was for paying our respects not bad mouthing the dead. You dont find out anyone has died and then sit there pointing out alllllllllllllllllll thier faults. He did so much good for wildlife and most i had no idea on untill he died and thats a shame. No one judge police or firemen when they die, they knew there was risks in their job. Different kind of job yes but you are pointiong out dangers. I hope he reste in piece he was a nutter in my eyes but a genius one and a passionate one!

Well true but he had been around them 44 years and i believe him when he said he would never put his kids in danger. But fair point Token, but i dont see why peeved had to drag this up as this thread was about a life lost not all his good/bad in life.

5 September, 2006 at 1:47 pm #240165Peeved we all know what you are on about FFS we dont care the man is dead have some respect might be hard but do try it you might like it. To knock a dead man is low. This thread is about a loss not to pick at what happened 2 YEARS ago. If you wanna be petty start another thread and leave the decent people to carry it on.

Same difference, he was brought up on a reptile famr which he later made into the zoo he and his wife AND 2 KIDS all spent most of their time it was a passion not a stupid stunt. I feel so sorry for his babies and wife x
Are we talking about the same man??? He had his baby son in a croc pit, everyone was outraged!! People forget too easily. He got stung this time.
