A larger bottom ‘could be good for your health
It is a source of misery for many, but scientists now say that having a larger bottom could be good for health.

Deposits of fat around the thighs and the bottom could protect against disease like heart disease and diabetes, scientists believe.

Researchers say the fat reduces the effect of a harmful protein, which can trigger inflammation and illness.

They believe that it could mean that curvier celebrities, like Jennifer Lopez and Beyoncé, are healthier role models for women than skinny models.

Scientists have previously warned of the dangers of accumulating fat around the tummy, which doctors say can be as important as obesity in affecting health.

Dr Konstantinos Manolopoulos, from the University of Oxford, who carried out the review of research, said: “The fat around our thighs and hips is different to the fat we accumulate around our tummy.

“There is ‘good’ fat and ‘bad’ fat – just like there is good and bad cholesterol.

“The cells in lower body fat work differently from the cells in upper body fat – so it could be said that celebrities like J-Lo are better role models for women’s health than supermodels who have much less lower body fat.”

High levels of this type of fat around the bottom and thighs have been linked to lower levels of heart problems and lower cholesterol, according to the study published in the International Journal of Obesity.

The team behind the review called for more research to test the effect of increasing the amount of the fat, called gluteofemoral fat, on health.

They add: “Body fat distribution is a major determinant of metabolic health and gluteofemoral (fat) exerts specific functional properties that are associated with an improved … cardiovascular risk profile.

“The protective properties of gluteofemoral fat have been confirmed in large population studies.”

The fat reduces the effect of harmful proteins, called cytokines, which can lead to inflammation and illness.

Obesity is calculated using the Body Mass Index (BMI), a ratio of weight in comparison to height.

A BMI score is calculated by dividing a person’s weight in kilograms by their height in metres squared.

A score of between 18 and 25 is considered normal, while 25 to 30 is overweight, 30 to 40 obese and over 40 morbidly obese.

Cheers Pete!!! That’s my tomorrow’s lesson taken care of!!! Got a lesson plan???

The bmi can be deceptive if you have someone with a high muscle to fat ratio they may not be classed as being overweight, and do remember that the bmi calculation is for adults only, children have to be calculated differently.

Are you an apple or a pear?

Actually the solutions very simple, no dole for immigrants until they’ve contributed tax for four years. No child support, no nothing. Four years of actual tax paying over whatever elapsed period, will sort out those who come here to work and those that come here to sponge.

I don’t mind people coming here to work, then again if we put the same rules into place for our unemployed so that no one in this country, at all, can get any kind of benefits—no dole, no child support, (most importantly) no housing benefit, no nothing—until they have contributed tax for four years. And then, of course, limit the amount of time that anyone can claim benefits for.

You will then find that job vacancies fill up reeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaal quick.

Hi hunni bunch!!!! Happy new year! I wouldn’t want Birmingham to be like Dublin, where all the illegal immigrants are out begging with young babies in their arms.

School leavers haven’t contributed so no money ?

school leavers don’t get any money unless they are classed as being vulnerable. The options are a training scheme, college or a job. However, they can get paid for going to college if their parents have a low income

Little Willy gets chocolate confiscated from his lunch box on a daily basis. If he gets heart disease, type 2 diabetes, dental cavities, obesity, it isnt his parents fault, its my fault, because we get blamed for everything!!

By the way Ann Summers does a gorgeous chocolate willy, very reasonably priced! lol

Perhaps this is just another case making the Government reconsider the legalisation of heroin, at least the users would not be taking such a risk, knowing that the drug has been through a quality procedure and wasn’t cut with such dangerous substances. Drug use is now, unfortunately, a part of World culture and is not going to go away. The drug could be provided to addicts by the NHS on a prescription basis as methadone is now and the dealers would be cut out of the equation.

I’ve been a very naughty gril and have been a name changer in the quiz, how can I get my points amalgamated, if I promise not to do it again? Am sitting on the naughty step with a glass of red wine and a packet of cheesy wotsits.
