Plenty mitigating circumstances here tho, he’s given life! and ordered to serve a minimum of 11 years!!! wtf! 11 years isn’t even close to life, he needs locking up and the key throwing away, along with his stupid lil tart of a girlfreind, who lied for him, she has something like a 12 month sentence suspended for 2 years and ordered to do 150 unpaid work. Perhaps she should wear a sign on her back while doing so, *Baby murderer* grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrThe judicial system in this country sucks!!

I can understand how political correctness came about but I think it’s gone way too far now. The pc brigade will leap on any word they think of as being offensive, with no regard to the context in which it is used or if the person it is directed at is even remotely bothered by it.
A friend of mine always greets me with “owzit anging you old tart”, I reply with”oi, less of the old you slapper”…..no doubt the pc brigade would jump up and down over this, but we both know it’s a joke and nothing is meant by it (I think…. :? )
As for the media, oooh look, there’s a word or statement there we can take out of context and make a story of…let’s not let the whole picture get in the way of a good story. Hey there’s a royal involved too, might get this one to run for a few days….
=D> =D> =D> Well said Jen
I watched the Question Time programme last night where this issue was discussed. I have to say that my overall feeling on the opinion of the members of the panel was to get a life!!! ](*,)
The man referred to as Sooty is apparently called that name by several other members of the polo set, he doesn’t seem to have any problem with it, so why should anyone else. One of the panel made the suggestion that ”well it is the prince of wales, and he’s hardly going to say he doesn’t like it” maybe so, but it has been said that he’s called this name by everyone else too, he could say it to them, if he so chose, he doesn’t.
As for Prince Harry,,,,,,,,it was 3 years ago fgs!. Also last night on the programme it was brought up about his dressing up as a Nazi. If this had been any other young man around his age, I doubt anything would have been said, relatively few people would have noticed.
I don’t know his name, but the Jewish man on the panel. He said he was uncomfortable with being called a Jew. He then proceeded to tell the panel and the audience, that at football matches, to make themselves spotted, there is a crowd, who along with him, chant, yidarmy! yidarmy!,,,,,,,,he went on to say that he wasn’t comfortable with it, but went along with it, isn’t that double standards!!
Personally I think the whole ”Political Correctness” issue has gotten completely and totally out of hand. I myself was berated in one of the chat rooms recently for referring to my partner, as ‘half caste’,,,,,,,,,,,I was told in no un-certain terms, that the term half caste wasn’t acceptable, and that I should refer to him as ‘mixed race’ 9mostly I refer to him by his name  ) I repeat, get a bloody life!!

10 January, 2009 at 11:02 am #388685I cant find it now, but I did read yesterday somewhere, that someone did make a statement about who in their right mind would give a 17 year old such a powerful car to drive, first car, just passed their test etc etc.,
I agree actually with what that person said. My son rides a Squadra Corsa 125cc. He passed his CBT and a 125 is what he is allowed to drive. As I understand it, when he passes his full bike test, he can then still only drive a 400cc, which is pretty powerful on it’s own! and then has to go up in stages, ie., prove his ability to handle and drive a bigger more powerful bike, before he’s allowed to do so. I think I have that right? I am blonde after all  and i’m sure someone else would know.
If tho, that’s the case, then why can’t these same, good rules, in my opinion, be levied on young people and driving tests. Too many young people pass their driving tests and then get straight into big powerful cars without the slightest idea of how to drive or handle them.
