This young lad has been sent to prison for acting out the violence he witnessed whilst playing Grand theft Auto. Do you think that the games really are to blame? Or is that just an excuse?

Is it the parents fault for letting them have the game in the first place? Would you let your kids play this game, even though it is for over 18,s?

    video game

Personally Bat,,,,my son played this game with a freind at 13/14,,,,,as far as he was concerned it was a game. It certainly didn’t have him trawling the streets looking for victims, nor has it had this effect on anyone else I know who has played it.

It’s more a convenient excuse, of which there are far too many in play in our justice system. Oh! it wasnt my fault, i’m the age of consent but my parents never taught me right from wrong,,,,,, it wasnt my fault, I had a bad upbringing, etc etc etc.

I’d like to say that i’m glad he’s gotten 8 years in prison. The women he attacked must have been terrified, and unlike him, will no doubt in many ways, serve a life sentence. He though, will have access to these same computer games in prison, so wheres the punishment

The country where it happened say it was acceptable and served the punishment. We don’t stone people here, but our country has a history of slavery and death penalty.
So many busy bodies want to interfear in other countries business, let them get on with it.

History yes,,,,,people accepted it was wrong and it was stopped!

We can’t change the cultures of other countries and it’s pointless even trying. We can though, and we should, prevent it happening here!

If by saying that, that we should prevent it here, makes me a busybody, then i’m happy to be one thanks

Frankly I think theres little we can do about this. This is the way these people live thier lives. It doesn’t make it right, not in the eyes or hearts of any free thinking person, but these people are not free thinking.

I do though, think it should make us all aware of the ethnic cultures in our communitys who wish to bring this ‘Sharia Law’ here. Or how long will it be before we witness these kinds of atrocities in our own town squares

Ok , I’m looking forward to the backlash I’ll get for this

    1. Yoda, that was a pretty ridiculous comment. It’s shameful on your part in my opinion.

    2. PB – It is a big deal that he is our countries first black president because of the reprehensible actions that took place in the 1950’s & 60’s in America. In retrospect, The Civil Rights movement was not that long ago and now for our country to elect a black president is something that we can be proud of.

    3. I voted for McCain, but I am hopeful that Obama will do a good job as president.

Not noticed anyone giving you backlash,,,,,,Yoda quite rightly stated that it’s her opinion, to which she’s entitled, as are you.

As for the reprehensible actions of the 50’s and 60’s. There were those same actions not so long back. Remember the floods, where George Dubya once again buried his head in the sand and hoped it would all go away!! Those reprehensible actions are nothing new
