Mental illness is something that no one fully understands, it is unpredictable, it is destructive and it is something that no one can actually see. If someone had a broken arm or some other visible affliction or illness evryone would be saying get better soon etc etc and sympathy would be forthcoming (well maybe not on jc lol)

mental illness is unpredictable , it comes in many forms, from being depressed (and thats not just being fed up) to the paranoid schitzophenic , bi polar all sorts of variations. I once met someone who had voices in her head, they were very real to her, after a spell in a psychiatric hospital she said to me, its something i lived with for ages, i thought evryone had them!!

the mind is a strange thing, you can use ur mind to wander to anywhere you want too, one of the people i work with suffered horrific child abuse by a ‘black magic’ circle she is mentally ill and if she doesnt take her medication correctly she reverts back to her childhood using the ‘places’ she used to go too to escape the real horrors of what was happening too her at the time and when she is ‘ill’ she says over and over ‘i can fly, i can fly’, another lady who visits our office had a very victorian father who used to beat the cr/ap out of her, she is such an intelligent lady too but from time to time when it gets a hold of her she is taunted by the local youth in our area. A lot of very clever intelligent people suffer from mental illness they say tho dont they genius is bordering madness, its such a fine line. who knows wot tips people over the edge ay? some of our finest comedians were manic depressives , spike milligan and tony hancock just to name 2 of them.

thing is i think society is just intolerant of this illness there but for the grace of god n all that , no one wants to be branded a ‘loon’ do they, all i ask is next time you come across someone who seems they are ‘not all there’ you take just a little time to think what they may be going through and treat them with a little respect.
