    When I was in my younger days,
    I weighed a few pounds less,
    I needn’t hold my tummy in
    to wear a belted dress.
    But now that I am older,
    I’ve set my body free;
    There’s comfort of elastic
    Where once my waist would be.
    Inventor of those high-heeled shoes
    My feet have not forgiven;
    I have to wear a nine now,
    But used to wear a seven.

    And how about those blasted tights —
    They’re sized by weight, you see,
    So how come when I put them on
    The crotch is at my knee?
    I need to wear these glasses
    As the print’s been getting smaller;
    And it wasn’t very long ago
    I know that I was taller.
    Though my hair has turned to grey
    and my skin no longer fits,
    On the inside, I’m the same old me,
    the outside’s changed a bit.

    You’re like a bottle of Laphroaig 30 Year Old Single Malt, Cath..
    Colour: Deep red gold.
    Nose: An initial trace of sherry is followed by a sweet fruitiness that overlays the tantalising hint of Islay peat.
    Body: A full profound depth and roundness.
    Taste: The first quiet explosion of peat is tempered by a sweet gentleness that develops into a heavy roundness.
    Finish: Succulent and long.

    He deserves to have very close tabs kept on him wherever he goes and comes across as an extremely unpleasant old man even leaving aside the evil things he’s done.

    It occurred to me that if he’d chosen a career in a more hard-edged sector of the pop industry, rather than glam-rock poputainment – say punk, death metal or gansta-rap, Glitter’s notoriety might have been less of a barrier or even boosted his career. After all, Sex Pistols music is still played although one of the group (Sid Vicious) was a murderer.

    surely Bassingbourne it all comes down to people’s perception of the crimes? take that couple who’s name excapes me just now but they got 6 years for defrauding £250,000 what price can you put on a child who has been defrauded of its childhood by someone who takes the innocence , takes the trust , and in some cases takes not only the life of the child but indeed when the child grows into adult hood some find the assault so painful to live with they take their own lives because they cant live with the memory.

    I threw out anything I had to do with Gary Glitter once he had been convicted , I never had any sex pistols stuff but to be honest whilst murder , especially for the victims family, must be terrible, absolutely greif beyond beleif, I for one celebrate and thank god for the fact that the majority of decent human beings come out in solidarity at the news a child has been violated.

    For a long time people were in denial about the change in the property market, saying things like “house prices never go down, they might just stop going up” and “after all, there’s a housing shortage and everybody has to live somewhere”.

    We had a property slump before and now we have another one and people are gradually becoming aware of how bad it might become, with talk of 50% falls in prices. Buyers are finding it difficult to get mortgages but they are also probably staying away in the belief that houses will be cheaper in a few months.

    Now we’re told there’s a recession on the way and sales of 4x4s are down by 50% (Independent, Friday) as fuel prices rise. And here is where I detect another case of denial. People seem convinced that high fuel tax and a manipulated oil price are the problem. That might be partly the case but I think we are at the end of cheap fuel as growing worldwide demand collides with increasing difficulty in meeting that demand as reserves begin to dwindle. I’ve said for ages that global warming was a red herring and the real environmenatl crisis, as far as civilisation goes, is finite resources running out.

    As far as housing is concerned it was inevitable, lets face it a £100,000 + mortgage is out of most peoples reach anyway.

    recession? every few years we go through a recession, to be honest im kinda glad credit is hard to get, its been far too easy in the past and now companies seem to be coming to their senses and vetting people more.

    Global warming? the end of the world is nigh!!!! :? prepares sandwich board and puts a good pair of marching up and down the high street shoes on……..
