Tommy it is a very serious subject but i do think you should read up abit on it. Carrying a donor card doesnt tell someone your blood group, your tissue type , how good of a match you will be etc etc. All these things need to be taken into account before an organ can be transplanted else there wouldnt be a waiting list at all cos everyone would match everyone else.
The card is just an indidcator that you would like your organs to be donated in which case co ordinators get in touch with next of kin and it goes from there. Recipients arent picked out willy nilly they are on a long waiting list and it is by the grace of God that the donors organ will match yours. Much testing needs to be done and if you can imagine one organ and maybe at least four people of the *list* needing it you can imagine the heartache when told it doesnt suit.
