Well if that’s the one you like, ring them and just pay for it over the phone.

    You should get it Monday

Yes that’s the first thing I would do……..

Right after we started using discount brand tea bags in the tea room.

When I think back to the last recession, didn’t most of them “business consultants” fail?

This reminds me of that old joke about the “consultant, the shepherd and the dog”

Well don’t think you should have bid on that.

Why not shop around on the web for one first?

You’re looking for a cheap kind of CREATIVE Sound Blaster X-Fi Surround 5.1 USB 2.0 Sound Card with a remote control.

Prices start at £15, the one above is round £50

Will try and find you a cheaper one, but this does mean replacing the sound card on the laptop. You don’t need to removed, but it does seem a bit funny to replace the sound card on a new laptop.

Well I have logitech Squeezebox Wireless Speaker System at home, but its not cheap at £250. (It was a freebie, I would never have paid that for a set of pc speakers.)

The best one is Z Cinéma Advanced Surround Sound System from Logitech, but again its not cheap.

You need to think about how much you are going to spend and what you’re going to use them for.

I think the best thing you can do is get a cheap set of usb speakers.

Well on the new laptops, the sound card has been cut back. Theirs a line out for head phones and one in for a mic. On my desktop sound card there are 5 lines out, and one is marked for “sub woofer”. Not that its been used, I’ve found usb speakers far better than my old ones.

Its the sound card on the laptop. The speaker set you have just brought is for a desk top computer.

Take them back and get a usb set.

I’m sure when PB gets “lay off” due to the “credit crises”, he will find out how friendly the banks really are!!!!!
