So what your saying is,
The 65 million people in the UK don’t meet the tax bill, but the banks do?
errrr I think you should look at how much “business” pays in taxes before you start going on about how much the “banks” make for the government.
Its not has much has you seem to think and well short of the bale-out figurers !!!!!
2 October, 2008 at 12:17 pm #377102Right Cath, due to it being a council house…….
You have just got lucky.
All councils/ housing association in England are taking part in the “warm front” program.
They will be replacing your boiler, radiators and insulation soon.
You need to contact your housing provider for more details and work start dates in your area.
But I can’t see how you are using £500 per year of gas in the first place. God knows how you are using £750 !!!!!!
You need to get that meter checked out.
It sounds like you don’t have an electric shower, they do save a lot of money.
All radiators can be turn down and in rooms you’re not using turn them right down but not off.
I know this sounds a bit odd, but turning off your heating costs more than having it on all day.
Its all about “recovery rates”, you know when you fill a pan with cold water and place it on the cooker? It takes a while to boil, but if you fill it with warm water from the tap, it boils faster.
Your home is the same, if you leave your heating on low all day, then turn it up when you get home, you will save money.
Try and find a second hand dish washer, they are cheaper to run than using the boiler and hot water from the tap.
Hope it helps.

Well you’re are in the same position has most people this winter.
Gas prices have been going up for years and I have been telling people to stop using it for home heating, but no fooker listened.
There is help for people on low incomes, benefits or over the age of 70.
Have pop a few web sites on the bottom of this.
If you tell me how many radiators you have, size of house, will pop some money saving tips on for you.

First, they only tune in 10 mins before the quiz starts and moan they can’t hear it.
Second, they all moan like hell for the next 2 hours about it.
Third, the ones who can hear it:
pick “Osman/Abba” records so the rest of us wish we couldn’t hear it too.
Think yourself lucky your tuck up in bed at your rest home and doped-up by the staff by 8pm, not listening to the rubbish Arron plays.
