Les Dawson was a very good comic, and was mimicking the mill ladies of the Lancashir cotton towns (my gran was one when she was very young). They’ve all gone or going.

How do you think men should be, then???

It bothers a manager much more if you give them a cheery smile.

They don’t know what to make of it., especially if you keep waving to them whenever you see them.

They may get the impression that you don’t care, but eventually the penny will drop that you don’t care and that you’re also laughing at them.
