Yes, living in a Lancashire, alongside thousands of Muslims, including 10 Muslim families on my own street, what the hell would I know about Muslims and an auto correct typo that I didn’t notice, until it was to late to edit.
drac, so all those hundreds of thousands of people were out protesting just because someone you claim is a Muslim fundamentalist told them to? Impressive.
They are what the KGB refered to as ‘useful idiots’.
None of the conservative media on social media has said anything about it. I feel like it’s a good idea to publicize it for many reasons.
They don’t want to be called ‘racist’ or ‘islamophobic’, which would inevitably happen if they drew attention to Linda Sarsour’s personal beliefs. I think my favourite quote I have found from her is that ‘muslim children are executed [in the US]’. I had never heard of her until I looked into the protests, and i’m not sure how she as aquired enough power to mobilise so many people.
In regards to the other political message about the view that Muslims shouldn’t be allowed to immigrate here for a while, I feel like one way is that it makes a global statement that Islamic countries don’t allow other religions and for the first time that is hinted at being slightly reciprocated in a different way. Honestly though, I dont think they’d think that it’s reciprocation- maybe they’ll feel like that’s how USA always felt about that particular sect of people.
Saudi Arabia’s claim that ‘all atheists are terrorists’ comes to mind.
I feel like Trump’s comment about about sexuality kind of makes it seem like he doesn’t like people who’s morals are slightly different- comparatively prioritizing cleverness over being nice/moral, and dancing around sexuality since childhood rather than actually doing or saying something. Which is ironic because through action, he is actually married to someone who might have different morals than himself and their children seem to have different values than him as well. I remember back when he was talking about the birth certificate issue and how he is Republican, his children were embarrassed by it and asked him to not talk about that. And I think that’s why he talks kind of openly about women because his actions show that he loves women. I feel like that’s what he tries to get across- that he and people in general should be trusted more, and people should be optimistic about other people’s sentiments.
Trump is pretty terrible at saying things that have a clear interpretation, which leaves him open to people getting into this kind of hysteria over minor comments. His inaugural speach was much better, but I don’t think he wrote that. Even then a lot of media outlets are trying to frame his use of the phrase ‘America first’ as proof that he is secretly a nazi .
