My understanding of Merkel is that she does whatever she thinks will be popular, which is how she keeps getting re-elected. On this occasion she was wrong with immigration, but instead of backing down she is continuing with the same policy.
There is a lot more state censorhip of media in Germany than I think most people realise, even on the internet certain Facebook pages and Youtube channels aren’t visible in Germany. I think this is because of East Germany’s communist history, given that ex-Stasi informers are given positions of power over these things (Evidence 1, Evidence 2, Evidence 3).
The attack was terrible, but unfortunately predictable given Germany’s immigration policy. Targeting the christmas market was no accident, it causes the most impact in people’s minds.
I hope the German people are aware enough to see through their countries censorship and propaganda and vote Merkel out for someone with more sensible policies.

A couple of years ago, the US National Intelligence Agency estimated that there is a vdry high chance of a nuclear device being set off somewhere in the world by 2030.
I think Pakistan / India is the mostly likely conflict that would go nuclear.
This doesn’t seem to have made it into the news yet, but the shooter is known to be an actively serving member of the Ankara Special Operations Unit.
